Evan Price named Green Party candidate in Durham federal riding
CLARINGTON, ON (January 24, 2019) – The Green Party of Canada is proud to announce that Evan Price is the Green Party candidate for Durham in the upcoming 2019 federal election.
Evan Price supports policies and legislation that increase freedoms and protections for children, women, immigrants, and minority groups. He is especially passionate about election reform and the Green Party’s call for proportional representation to ensure that Canadians are accurately being represented in government, as well as developing more opportunities for youth engagement. Mr. Price believes that being a young politician helps him relate more closely to the issues affecting younger generations and witness first-hand the long-term effects that the federal government’s actions will have.
“I am excited and honoured to be given the chance to work on behalf of the people of Durham. We need leadership in our elected offices that will get things done and propose real solutions to the problems we face in our community,” wrote Mr. Price in an announcement posted publicly to social media.
A husband and father of one, Evan Price has an established career in the telecommunications industry, where he has worked for several well-known organizations, including Bell, Rogers, and Shaw. Born and raised in Durham Region, he wants to work directly with the residents of Durham to bring meaningful changes to the community, such as free tuition and investment in public transit.
“I have made a promise to my neighbours... that protecting the members of my community is of the utmost importance and I will do everything in my power to support them,” Mr. Price stated recently in an open letter regarding the closure of the Oshawa General Motors plant.
